More About Corbeau and Their Heritage

Corbeau Seats Ltd was the very first motorsport seat manufacturer in the world.

The original ‘Corbeau Equip’ was lanched back in 1963 by its original owner, Colin Folwell. Colin found that the standard/original road seats in his race car did not offer the support or protection that was required for the tremendous speeds that race cars could produce at the time. Therefore he went on to develop the first ever race car seats here in St Leonards-On-Sea, East Sussex. This is where our factory remains today, where we proudly continue to produce road and race car seats today.

Fast forward to 2022 and 59 years on, we are still proud to be manufacturing motorsport racing seats, classic bucket seats, reclining bucket seats, track day seats, lotus replacement seats and racing harnesses. All of these are produced to our high internal standard, ensuring we continue to keep both drivers and passengers safe.

Corbeau has some great racing heritage and in 1992 we became the first British manufacturer to acquire FIA homologation on our motorsport seats.

Over the years we have not only focused on the motorsport market, vastly expanded our reach to cater for a wide array of aftermarket seating for classic cars, race cars, modified cars and everything in between. We can now also supply marine, stadium, office and gaming seating also.

We have expanded our range to also include our Ultima Harnesses. Using the latest lightweight webbing, aluminium adjusters and magnesium alloy release box. These cutting-edge components all add up to a significant weight saving when compared to a standard race harness. These harnesses are FIA approved for use in FIA events all over the world.
