Description
Hondata FlashPro ECU Civic FN2 Type R UK
The perfect way to adapt your vehicle from any modifications you have made. Whether it is light tuning (air intake, exhaust, camshafts) to forced induction (supercharging and turbocharging) the Hondata Flashpro has the capabilities to run all of these via the OBDII port for tuning.
Hondata tuning is the best way to make changes to your original Honda ECU without having to run aftermarket stand alone management, which means you can retain all of your factory ECU programming for normal aspects of day to day running.
Hondata systems modify the standard Honda engine computers (ECUs), adding features and expanding the capabilities of the stock ECU. Vehicles with year of manufacture up to and including 2006 models require the ECU to be modified and in most cases hardware is added, for vehicles of years 2007 and onwards tuning takes place via an external programming interface. In all cases Hondata software is utilised in order to change the parameters/settings within the ECU (i.e. to tune the car).
So why use Hondata instead of one of the many standalone systems available on the market? The answer is very simple; nothing will run a Honda engine better than a Honda ECU, and the Hondata systems all leave the Honda ECU completely intact thereby retaining full reliability, full dash functionality etc.
The Hondata Flashpro allows full reprogramming of the factory Honda engine computer via the vehicles OBD port. No hardware is added to the vehicles ECU; the Flashpro system is simply locked to the vehicles engine computer via a laptop and tuned using the supplied Flashpro Manager software which can be downloaded, free of charge, from Hondata’s website. Here is a link http://hondata.com/downloads.html Within the Flashpro Manager software a selection of base calibrations can be found, which are suitable as a starting point for tuning most applications. The FlashPro Manager software’s advanced data-logging and live tuning capabilities combined with thoroughly tested base maps, allow the car to be tuned faster and more accurately than any other solution on the market.

Common Questions & Answers Regarding Flashpro
What is the difference between a reflash and the FlashPro?
The FlashPro is tunable by anyone. Most of Hondata’s reflashes are available on the FlashPro as one of the many default calibrations available.
How much power will the FlashPro make on my car?
The FlashPro itself does not make power. The combination of parts and your engine makes the power. The FlashPro allows you to tune the correct cam angle fuel and ignition your car needs. The base maps are a great place to start though. The Maps page lists the calibrations available with the FlashPro and the power made compared to a stock Civic Si. Take a look at these dyno charts from our dyno day on a number of modified Civics with stock ECUS compared to a base map from FlashPro.
Do I need dyno tuning?
It shouldn’t be necessary for common part combinations (intake, exhaust), but you still have the option of custom tuning if you wish to get a little more. Camshafts and race headers probably will need tuning to get the most of the them – it will depend on the manufacturer.
Can I get rid of the AFM?
You can switch to a MAP based calibration (recommended for forced induction and/or cams). You need to still physically retain the AFM because it also contains the IAT sensor.
Will this work on more than one vehicle?
The FlashPro is locked to one vehicle. It can be unlocked and transferred to another vehicle by returning the ECU to stock.
Can I share the calibrations I make for my car?
Yes.
Do I need the laptop in the vehicle to reflash the ECU?
No. The FlashPro can upload either with or without a laptop.
How do I buy a used FlashPro?
Follow these instructions
Is there a VTEC window?
Yes. This means that VTEC will operate based on rpm and engine load. For example, the supercharger reflashes have a VTEC window from 3200 rpm – 6000 rpm. At full throttle, VTEC operates at 3200 rpm. At light throttle, VTEC operates at 6000 rpm, and for load between full and light the VTEC will shift between 3200 rpm and 6000 rpm.
So does that mean 1 unit Hondata FlashPro can only work with one ecu or car only? Which means I can’t buy one FlashPro and use it together with a few of my buddies Civics?
One ECU and vehicle at a time. You can unlock the FlashPro by returning the ECU to stock, and then transfer to another vehicle.
Any option of immobilizer control?
The immobilizer can not be disabled. We’ve implemented a number of features designed to protect the owner of the vehicle from theft, and one of these is not to allow the immobilizer to be disabled. This is going to be much less of an issue than previous products because the ECU does not need to be removed / swapped.
If the ECU had been reflashed by another maker, can FlashPro still work?
Probably – we could tell you based off the ECU part & serial numbers plus the calibration ID. When you unlock the FlashPro it will only be reflashed back to a stock calibration.
Can it control nitrous?
No. However, you can at least control the ignition timing to make nitrous safer.
Will dealers need a software license?
No. Every FlashPro will come with the full tuning software FlashProManager.
Do I need to send my ECU to Hondata?
No. Your ECU does not need to be modified for FlashPro.
I am considering purchasing a used FlashPro. What do I need to do to check?
The FlashPro must be unlocked by the seller. Have the seller send you this screenshot which shows the serial number password and lock status. Hondata does not unlock FlashPros. The reason for this policy is to prevent both fraud (against us) and theft (against you)
How does the FlashPro work with my FN2 GroupN ECU / FD2 Civic Type R ECU
The FlashPro will lock to and work with the FN2 GroupN / FD2 Type R ECUs perfectly. However if you unlock the FlashPro for sale and return to stock the GroupN ECU will be returned to a stock US Civic Si ECU. In this state it will not work in the Euro and Japanese Type R Civics.
How does it compare to KPro?
KPro is a completely different product. It was created for the 02-04 RSX style ECU. It will only work on that type of ECU with the exact same Oki processor. Honda has changed the architecture of the ECU, including ECU architecture, processor and encapsulation, so that there is no way the KPro can be made to work on any other ECU.
K-Pro requires the ECU be sent to a Hondata for the installation of the K-Pro daughterboard. By comparison, new FlashPro owners need never remove the ECU from their car.
Because FlashPro is a different product from KPro, it has different features. Not all features implemented in KPro are possible with FlashPro. We will try to develop more popular features as time permits.
In the meantime, if you run nitrous, you will be able to run a calibration that is far safer and make more power than you would with a stock ECU.
Can I used a FlashPro for an engine swap into an earlier chassis?
Unless the chassis is substantially the same as the donor engine (eg 2007 engine in 2006 chassis of the same type) we do not recommend that a FlashPro is used for an engine swap. The KPro should be used, with 2002-2004 engine harness, ECU and transmission speed sensor. The throttle body should be swapped to a non DBW type.
From Jan 1 2014, all FlashPros shipped from Hondata include Bluetooth.
FlashPros sold before the dates in the table below do not support Bluetooth. To confirm if your FlashPro supports Bluetooth follow this procedure:
- Launch FlashPro Manager
- Plug in the FlashPro to your USB port.
- Press the FlashPro button, tab, then hardware.
- If Bluetooth is present, Yes will be indicated.
- If you do not see ‘Bluetooth present’ at all, then you are using an older version of FlashProManager and need to update. This does not mean that you don’t have a FlashPro with a Bluetooth radio.
- If ‘Bluetooth present’ is No, your FlashPro does not have Bluetooth. You may upgrade your FlashPro is you wish.
